Review of Dark Lover by J.R Ward

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

Ok, first of all let me say please please don’t hate me for this review.

That being said, this book was not my cup of tea. While it was a solid plot and well written, it just didn’t capture my attention enough for me to run out and buy book two. However, I was told that I should give book 2 a chance before I decide on the whole series. Because of this advice, I may buy the ebook of book 2 sometime in the future and give it a shot.

The things that did intrigue me included Beth’s personal story, the fact that Wrath was practically completely blind, and the concept of an almost vampire fraternity kind of situation. The chemistry and connection between the “brothers” was strong enough to feel. The connection between Beth and Wrath was amazing and incredibly intense. It had it’s good points, but it also had it’s low points. Of course, every book does.

I know it is a really popular book and I’m glad for that, but it just wasn’t for me.
